Business directory + ecommerce · Main developer

Business Directory & Marketplace

A business directory with ecommerce built in. Every city gets its own hub of local businesses, events, deals and news, and vendors can sell, ship and refund right from their listing. I built it end to end, from the database to checkout, shipping and refunds.

01

The problem

Small vendors wanted to list products next to their events and deals, then sell, ship and refund without a platform team behind them. The platform had to do the hard parts for them.

02

One cart, one charge per vendor

A shopper can fill one cart from several vendors, each with their own shipping rules. Checkout splits it cleanly so every vendor gets paid directly.

  • Live shipping rates
  • Guest checkout
  • Per-vendor payouts

03

Refunds that always add up

Refunds, returns and cancellations are where commerce gets hard. Every path has to settle back to the right place, whatever happened to the order before.

  • Partial refunds
  • Returns
  • Reconciliation

04

Vendor onboarding, through review

A new vendor builds a business profile and sends it for review. If it's sent back, they fix what was flagged and resubmit, and once it's approved they connect payouts and go live.

05

How it's tested

Browser tests walk through the product the way real people use it, one stage building on the last, and every run is recorded. Unit tests and build-time checks cover the rest.
